Rural Microfinance Mentorship
I joined the Peer-to-Peer Microfinance Program in undeveloped villages as a team member eager to help but unsure how. Working past midnight analyzing household finances and designing microloans, I saw that the barrier wasn’t money—it was a generational pattern of financial fear disguised as “stability.”
With a dream of building systems that make aid self-sustaining, I founded the Michelle Global Youth Charity Association. Building an international network and leading my team to raise over $15k (¥100k) for scholarships and school facilities, I strive to ensure the next generation grows up financially literate.
By my fourth year, I became a mentor, leading over 8 teams of American-Chinese students to design loan models that balanced risk and fairness.
One scholarship recipient returned a year later as the city’s top scorer, now determined to become a teacher and give back to her community. That’s when I understood change doesn’t come from charity, but giving people the tools to change their own lives.
